Have you ever hit a brick wall when searching for research materials over the internet? You tried every database on the internet and nothing, thousands of websites and still nothing. Then you decided to use the public library in town, which is good that you will be able to get some research done and help. The librarian is looking for books that you requested to find on the computer. The librarian looked at you and back to the computer. Then the librarian looked at you again and you are thinking why the librarian is looking at you. You just wanted some research material for a class.
“What school do you go to?” The librarian asked.
“The university” the student replied.
“Okay” the librarian said, “I found the exact books you wanted at a another library which was much closer, until you got here”
“You did, where?” asked the excited student.
The librarian turned the monitor around, and typed a message appeared on the computer screen for the student to read it was: “See your University Library!!”
That was awkward. And embarrassing, for the student to see a message that his university has a library, and the student drove all the way in town just to do research. Awkward. Very awkward. The student wanted to bury himself into his jacket of his embarrassment.
The librarian turned to the next student and she was embarrassed too. Her message was: “See your community college library” She didn’t know that her college has a library. The librarian was rude to them and made them feel brainless. The librarian was confused why two brilliant students graduated from High School, one looked like a valedictorian from her school and the other the future politician?
I think when they have orientation to go to their university or college of their choice, the guide should mention the library is your best friend, your BFF [best friend forever]. It’s the source of information where you can get smart. Have study groups in the library. Some universities libraries opened till 2:00am for students can study for their exams or finished their paper.
Take advantage by using your university or college library. Who cares if it is old and haunted by a ghost or have mold. You not going to die when breathing bad air – well the ghost did die when breathing bad air, long time ago, before he died. Would it be funny if the librarian was dressed up as Darth Vadar and breath through his mask. You are safe and young. Just do your research, get your material you need and go back to your dorm. If a ghost follows you, tell the ghost to go away.
When I read this book a couple of years ago I am still surprised who did it. Agatha Christie writes good mysteries and her plays left me who did it? Even though I know, who did it, I am still shocked who did it. It’s a good read for any mystery fan of Agatha Christie.
Stephenie Meyer maybe the hottest writer to reach teenagers to read, but it is her method to get the teenagers to read more. Put a hunky handsome vampire in the story, which will get female teenagers to read. The romance part maybe good.
In the latest J.K. Rowling novels of Wizardry with Harry Potter adventures, pre-teens are reading her novels. Magic and Fantasy books are getting attention, which is good for the imagination. Some people are against it because of the magic. The magic is in the book and the magic is in the mind of the teenagers who are reading her novels. It’s not real. It’s a fantasy and people like fantasy. But when fantasy crosses the line and put sex in the book or the movie, that’s the imagination of the writer who’s writing the book.
I hope the writers like Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling know their readers not to put too much sexual innuendo in their books. When the teenagers read this, they will ask their parents “what does this mean” and the parents will make money by suing the writers. If the parents don’t like the book just get a Nicholas Spark novels or R.L. Stine books.
These authors like to challenge and take a risk with the characters in the story and mostly there were controversial, because of the situation and the time-period. “The Catcher and the Rye” written by J.D. Salinger had sexual content and language. Harper Lee’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” had language and racism. Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple” had sexual content and language. Robert Cormeir’s “The Chocolate War” had nudity, language and sexual content. I have all of these novels and they don’t offended me. It’s a book what the writers write they are telling a story of what the characters are going through. Don’t get offended. If you don’t like the book, get another book, and don’t make a public scene and put in the local newspaper. Get another book.

A brief review but not spoiler
One of Agatha Christie best work. Famous detective Hercule Poirot is on the Orient Express, but the train is caught in the snow. When one of the passengers is discovered murdered, Poirot immediately starts investigating.
The possible suspects are: Mrs. Hubbard, Bianchi, Greta, Countess Andrenyi, Pierre, Colonel Arbuthnot, Princess Dragomiroff, Beddoes, Mary Debenham, Count Andrenyi, and the victim Ratchett. Who killed Ratchett?

Do you know what’s the best way to save on ink? You could buy more ink or get a new printer. You will be spending more money. The best part is change you font when you print. Most of you use Calibri, Verdana, Arial and Sans Serif followed by Trebuchet, Tahoma, and Franklin Gothic Medium. Century Gothic uses about 30 percent less ink than Arial and Times Roman. Because different fonts required different amount of ink to print, plus century gothic is readable. So to change your font setting.
For internet explorer go to tools, internet options, general tab, and fonts. Under fonts, change webpage fonts to Century Gothic and plain text to OCRB. Click on Apply and okay and you are done.
For Firefox users: Tools, options, Fonts & color and choose Century. You are done with firefox too.
You might see a difference how the page would look like when you print, but you are conserving your ink and ink cost money.

Do you and your parents want to go visit college campuses to which you are considering applying or attending? Take the train! You can go on AMTRACK and get two tickets for the price of one! Go to http://www.campusvisit.com/amtrak/ and fill out a short form. Hit “Submit” for a special AMTRACK promotional code, then book your ticket online or over the phone. Kick back and enjoy the scenery on your way to your college visit. Remember, the best way to see if you and a college are a good fit for each other is to actually go there, check out the campus and all that it offers, talk to students and staff, and listen to your heart.
Students should take advantage of their library on campus. Get to know it. Hang out with friends in the library. Have your own study group show, like the NBC TV show “Community” a study group of friends who hang out together, it’s like a new show with “Friends” in it. Study together and talk about it, be like “The View” and debate.
Also, take advantage of the classes in the library that offered how to do research and use databases for your research project. Some time Google can work and help, but using your state databases can helped you a lot for your work. I use my state database for all my research and I do cite my work. I read, paraphrase and use citation. I document everything what I write.
So, all of the universities have classes in database and how to find any articles you need for your research project. Make your brain smarter and you will get that “A” you deserve.
And I have noticed that some of the libraries open 24 hours or up to 2am, take advantage over this and use their facilities. Overall get a good night sleep and so you don’t miss your morning eight o’clock classes.
